Cloud architecture

Highly Available Architecture with ALB and Amazon ECS

A scalable deployment pattern designed to keep containerized applications available through changing demand while keeping the delivery workflow consistent.

The challenge

Containerized services need a repeatable deployment path, room to scale, and a reliable way to route traffic during busy periods.

Approach

  • Designed Amazon ECS services on AWS Fargate to run container workloads with automatic resource scaling.
  • Placed an Application Load Balancer in front of the service to distribute traffic and support high availability during peak demand.
  • Used Amazon ECR to store application images and support the delivery workflow.
  • Packaged services in Docker containers to keep deployment environments consistent, reduce complexity, and free teams to focus on improvements.

Result

The architecture was designed to improve reliability and user experience while supporting smoother deployments during peak traffic. Fargate scaling helps balance cost and performance, while ECS, ECR, and Docker provide a consistent foundation for continuous delivery.
